"After I received my Doctor of Medicine degree, I completed my Pediatric residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago. I am board certified Pediatrician and currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Presently, I am affiliated with several suburban hospitals including Sherman Hospital and St. Alexius Medical Center. I'm also an associate professor at Northern Illinois University.
My focus as a primary care doctor is to center on the whole child; looking at the physical, mental and social health issues that might affect a child’s growth and development. Moreover, my role as your pediatrician is to educate, counsel and be an advocate and friend to my patients and their parents or guardians. As a mother of two children, I understand a parent’s needs and anxieties. My goal is to be a resource to parents as they raise their children to be happy and healthy. "
I completed my pediatric residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago. After completing my residency, I was on faculty as a teaching physician at the University of Illinois Hospital supervising residents and patient care before moving back to the northwest suburbs and joining Dr. Betancourt's practice.
As part of my extensive training, I am experienced in evaluating and managing your child's physical, emotional and social development. I realize the importance of listening carefully to you and your child. In addition to addressing issues affecting a child's family and home environments, I work with parents and guardians to help them understand and promote their child's healthy development.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. My husband and I recently had our first child and we are in the process of re-establishing ourselves in the western suburbs after living in Chicago for the past few years.

I graduated from Rush University, Chicago with a bachelor of Science in
Nursing. Currently, I am enrolled in the Graduate Nursing Program at the
Northern Illinois University.
In 1989, while working as a staff nurse in
Newborn Intensive Care (level III) and as a Family Health Educator, I
developed a comprehensive hospital based Breastfeeding Support Service and
became certified as a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Since that time, my focus has been on breastfeeding promotion and the
prevention of breastfeeding problems common in the early newborn period. I
currently provide lactation services in two area hospitals.
I am the mother
of 3 formerly breastfed children and I am happy to provide lactation support
to our families in Dr. Betancourt's practice.
